Is the Knockmoyle Transmitter best for Saorview in Tralee, County Kerry
Stefan asks;
I live in Tralee Co. Kerry. Can you tell me UHF group for Tralee. It would appear that I might use either the Mullaghanish or Knockmoyle tranmitter. Can you clarify for me please?
Our answer;
STEP 1: Which Transmitter
go to:
- digital tv aerial guide
- from this you map you can see the main transmitters
- their coverage area
- and the type of UHF aerial that is needed.
- e.g. Tralee would appear to fall within the reach of Mullaghanish (group B UHF aerial)
However.......
STEP 1 - Extra: Sub Transmitters
- the vast majority of customers will pick up their signal from the main transmitters but
- if you live outside a major city
- and along the coast
- and in a generally mountainous area
- then maybe quick check out the list of sub-transmitters on the Saorview website
- You can now see that there is a sub-transmitter called
- "Knockmoyle which is broadcasting on channel 52"
- By again checking our saorveiw transmitter page on TVTrade.ie
- we can now see this would indicate that this is a group C/D Aerial
Part 2A: What to Buy - TV Aerials
If you are sure of what you need go to
- UHF TV aerials
- pick out the TV aerial that suits you best:
- or go for a wideband solution (which will work on any transmitter)
- Standard gain wide band uhf aerial
- High gain tv aerial wide band grid uhf aerial
- or go for a wideband solution (which will work on any transmitter)
Part 2B: What to Buy - TV Aerials kits
You can buy a complete kit with everything you need (if you have an MPEG4 Saorview ready TV)
- outdoor uhf tv aerial kit
- note you can customise by adding a shipping note
- "Please give me a Group CD green tipped UHF TV aerial" for example
Part 2C: What to buy - Full Saorview Kits
Or finally you can go for a full kit which includes a saorview boxes by choosing from
